At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Green Foundation was quick to reflect on and respond to the current needs of society in Slovakia at that time.
We redirected most of the foundation’s efforts to activities related to solving the situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Firstly, the Green Foundation responded to the lack of protective equipment against coronavirus. The foundation provided masks and other protective equipment through its founder, Mr. Boris Zeleny, which we distributed to selected medical facilities in the Bratislava region.
During the pandemic, we contributed by helping to increase the capacity for non-stop psychological support and crisis intervention. Our foundation covered the organisational, administrative and managerial skills needed for the project and provided the necessary premises for the non-stop crisis support telephone lines. In Slovakia, approximately 350,000 people are treated for psychiatric diagnoses, many of whom are at extreme risk of isolation, worsening symptoms of their mental disorders and significantly reducing their ability to undergo regular contact treatment. Examples of good practices from China and Italy speak of the great importance of crisis lines providing psychological support during difficult social and personal periods.
